Commission Agreement
1. Nature of the Commission
The Client is commissioning a handcrafted DeLoach Guitar instrument. Each instrument is built individually and intentionally. DeLoach Guitars does not operate as a retail inventory shop. Every guitar is constructed specifically for the individual Client and crafted as testimony — shaped with patience, intention, and reverence for the craft.
2. Instrument Specifications (See Spec sheet)
3. Commission Price
Total Commission Price: $3,995 USD. The commission price is fixed and not subject to discounting.
4. Commission Payment
A DeLoach Guitar is commissioned intentionally and built individually. Acceptance into the build calendar is secured by full payment, which authorizes material acquisition and the commencement of fabrication. The full Commission Price of $3,995 USD is required prior to acceptance into the build
calendar. No build slot is reserved and no materials are ordered until payment has been received and cleared.
5. Build Timeline
Estimated Build Start: 5 days from signing
Estimated Completion: 10 Weeks from start date.
Completion dates are estimates and may adjust due to the handcrafted nature of the process. Timelines
are estimates and may adjust due to:
Material curing requirements
Environmental humidity conditions
Finish curing schedules
Supply chain timing
Quality and structural integrity take precedence over speed.
•Final specifications must be approved in writing prior to material acquisition.
Changes requested after fabrication begins may:
Extend timeline
Result in additional charges
Be declined at Builder’s discretion6. Cancellation & Refund Policy
If the Client elects to cancel the commission:
• Prior to material acquisition and prior to the commencement of fabrication: A refund may be issued
less administrative time and consultation time.
• After materials have been acquired but before fabrication has begun: Any materials secured on behalf
of the Client, including specialty or non-returnable components, will be deducted from the total paid.
• After fabrication has begun: Any labor performed — including design consultation, wood preparation, fabrication, assembly, bracing, carving, finishing preparation, or custom part ordering — will be calculated at a reasonable shop rate and deducted from the total paid. Custom ordered components and non-returnable materials are non-refundable once ordered.
Refund determinations will reflect actual labor completed and material commitments at the time of cancellation. If the Builder must cancel the commission, all payments received will be refunded in full.
7. Natural Materials Disclaimer
The Client understands that wood is a natural material. Grain pattern, figure, coloration, mineral streaking, and other organic characteristics will vary from instrument to instrument and may differ from reference photographs or samples. Such variations are inherent to natural tonewoods and are not considered defects. These characteristics contribute to the individuality and character of the instrument.
Minor aesthetic variations are part of the commissioned artisan process and do not constitute grounds
for return or refund.8. Warranty & Care
The instrument is warranted to the original owner to be free from structural defects in materials and
workmanship under normal use. Client agrees to maintain proper humidity (45–55%). Environmental
damage, neglect, or modification voids warranty. Builder offers a limited lifetime warranty which covers structural integrity and craftsmanship. This warranty does not cover:
Environmental damage (humidity/temperature neglect)
Impact damage
Unauthorized modifications
Normal wear
