The DL-225 is constructed from solid mahogany throughout as a deliberate reference to the early American acoustic guitars built during the period when Gibson operated at their historic 225 Parsons st address—a golden-era period, when numerous mahogany-bodied instruments (LG series, L-00 variants, etc.) were built with a focus on function, tone, and durability. Those instruments established a sound valued for warmth, focus, and musical honesty. The DL-225 carries that lineage forward as a modern continuation.
Tonal Character
The DL-225 is voiced for clarity and musical response rather than sheer volume. Bass response is focused and supportive, the midrange is forward and expressive, and the treble remains clean and controlled. The guitar responds immediately to touch and remains composed under dynamic playing.
We also use the LR Baggs Active Element system.
This pickup delivers a clear, natural acoustic tone with a wide dynamic range and feedback resistance, making it ideal for live performance and studio work. The active electronics provide consistent output, low noise, and an open, balanced capture of the guitar’s voice—preserving warmth in the low end, presence in the mids, and sparkle in the highs.

Tone-woods & Construction
Top, back, sides, and neck are solid mahogany, creating a cohesive tonal foundation. The fingerboard and bridge are pau ferro.
